Matthew Loukine

I am a PhD student in the Integrated Program in Neuroscience at McGill University, co-supervised by Stuart Trenholm and Blake Richards. My research focuses on understanding how the brain learns and remembers visual information to support spatial navigation. I am particularly interested in how visual landmarks are represented across the brain and how these representations interact with head-direction and spatial-memory systems. My work combines experimental neuroscience, neural imaging, behavioural experiments, and computational approaches to investigate how memories are formed and used to guide behaviour.

Before starting my PhD, I completed a BA&Sc in Cognitive Science with a minor in Computer Science at McGill. My previous research has spanned systems neuroscience, computational neuroscience, and biological data analysis, which has shaped my interest in understanding neural computation across levels of biological organization.
